Fill me in

OK, so I've been neglecting the blogs and I am way behind on what's going on. I know... I went out and got one of those job things to support one of those husband things and because he's a smarty pants and goes to school all the time, I work all the time. So, I have no idea what is happening in the adoption world.

How long after LID till match?

Did the earthquake slow things down even more? I have heard how many families in China lost their only child. I wonder if that slows things down here to make more children available there.

Fill me in peeps.

I went to one of those referral prediction sites and if things stay the way they have been going(3-5 days of referrals per month), we will get our referral in 2012. 6 years after our LID. I know those things aren't predictable, but are you freaking kidding me? I can't even look at that number without becoming sick to my stomach. The last group waited 26 months. We have been in for 19 months and we were prepared to wait three years but there is no way I can think beyond that point. I just can't.

We were LID April 07 for DD #2. We were told at the time that it would be around 2 yrs (DD#1 took 9 months). So far, now it is expected to be a 3 yr wait from our LID date ....about 2 more years for us.
No one really thinks the quake will speed things up or slow them down. It was only in one province (however large). And apparently, there are a lot of domestic people in China who want to adopt the quake orphans. Not to mention that many of them are older children, and most of us are expecting younger than 2 and/or SN younger than 4 yrs old.

The Olympics being held in China this year is the biggest hurdle. After that, many people predict the wait will get better. But no one knows.
DD keeps saying she's going to be 5 yrs old when we go back to China to get her sister. (she's 3 now. it seems to fit with what I've also thought. And her predictions are as good as any other.

All I can say is that it will be a long time before we get our referral. Another 1.5 years our agency is saying to be exact. We are LID 3/06.

ARGH

We were LID 4/06. Right after submitting our paperwork (at that time, the wait was 6-9 mos), I got pregnant. DD #1 was born in March '07. Last summer, all our paperwork was up for "renewal" - with a 3-month old that barely slept (and MANY other factors), it was tough to think of traveling to China for another. We made the tough (VERY TOUGH) decision to pull our file. Looking back now, as hard as it is for me to say this, it probably would have worked out ok timing-wise. DD #1 would probably be 2+++ years old (ok, maybe 3) by the time we'd get our referral). The wait times now are just unbelievable - so sad, really. CCAA has referred up to mid-January '06. Here's hoping for a major speedup for all those waiting families...
